Eliis Joins Forces with RING Consortium to Advance Subsurface Modeling Research
Eliis proudly joins worldwide consortium of universities and companies supporting RING, collaborating together to advance subsurface modelling research and the application of digital subsurface technology in CO2 storage.
Montpellier, France, May 16, 2024 - Eliis, a leading innovator in seismic interpretation technology (PaleoScan™), proudly announces it has recently joined the worldwide consortium of universities and companies supporting RING, a dynamic academic research team focused on researching and developing subsurface modelling technology.
RING (Research for Integrative Numerical Geology), renowned for interdisciplinary approach to research and development, unites experts from diverse backgrounds to tackle complex subsurface challenges in geosciences. By merging expertise in geology, mathematics, and computational sciences, the research group works to revolutionize the understanding and management of subsurface modelling – thus significantly contributing to improved decision making processes in natural resource exploration and energy transition initiatives.
Benoît Matha, CEO Eliis, said “Joining a research consortium such as RING represents a further step in Eliis' commitment to actively collaborate with its ecosystem and support cutting-edge research in numerical geology and geomodelling. In particular, and in alignment with our vision, we wish to support the consortium in its research efforts on CO2 storage.”
Joining the consortium as industrial sponsors underscores Eliis’s commitment to fostering collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange within the geoscience community in a shared goal for a sustainable future. As members of the consortium Eliis will have access to exclusive resources, events, networking opportunities and an elite pool of talent that contributes significantly to advancing subsurface modelling and the future of the energy scape.
Guillaume Caumon, Director of RING said that "RING is very glad to welcome another sponsor highly engaged in the energy transition and in subsurface digital innovation. We have had excellent and constructive exchanges with Eliis over the recent weeks both on common research interests and teaching, and we look forward to further interactions."
As Eliis embarks on this exciting journey with the RING Consortium, the company remains steadfast in its mission to develop innovate software that bridges the gap between seismic interpretation and simulation, enabling energy companies to meet the subsurface challenges of the Energy Transition.
About Eliis
Eliis provides competitive and integrated seismic interpretation software that enables energy companies to achieve successful subsurface investigations, create new opportunities for energy supply enhancement and de-risk the decision-making process.
PaleoScan™’s cutting-edge technology, used for the detection and characterization of geological reservoirs at an unprecedented level, is a key asset for accelerating E&P workflows and limiting environmental risk.
Our mission is to provide sustainable and affordable subsurface interpretation solutions to enable energy companies to meet the world’s ever-growing energy demand.

About RING
RING (Research for Integrative Numerical Geology) is an academic research team of École Nationale Supérieure de Géologie de Nancy and GeoRessources, a research unit of the Université de Lorraine, and Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique. Combining geosciences, applied mathematics, and computer programming, we do methodological research to describe the geometry and heterogeneities of the subsurface consistently with observations (big, sparse and wide data) and geological concepts.
This research is done in partnership with academia and industry in the frame of the RING Consortium, since 1989. To find out more about RING visit https://www.ring-team.org/
